These works are graphic representations of sections of the earth’s plates. The individual layers, each a different color, illustrate separate strata.

Transforming Materials into Meaning
Experimentation is key to my practice. New directions in my work come from observation of the world around me, both the macro and micro. Reading, research and the use of new materials and methods usually follow. A common subject of my work has been the place where nature and humankind intersect or clash. For my work to be successful it must be unique and be a trigger for questions and further thought.

“The VPAP gives me the opportunity to use new technology to place the work in an outdoor space at a large scale. This context is fitting and interesting because we get to see a graphic representation of what is normally invisible, the earth’s strata, but is right under our feet. There is also a magical quality to the technology, and magic is a quality I always find satisfying when present in works of art.”
