Anamorph 3-D, Opened May 10th 2010
The Virtual Public Art Project presents it’s first South American show, Anamorph 3-D, two virtual sculptures by Brazilian artist Alvaro Barata.
Barata brings to us his hand-drawn form which has been virtually modeled, bringing the 2-D into the virtual 3-D world. Barata’s sculpture has been created using the features of “Anamorphosis.” In anamorphosis, a drawing viewed from a certain position reveals another image previously unseen, in this case a 3D form.
The augmented reality sculptures have been placed at two locations in the artist home town of Rio de Janerio, Brazil. The two sites have the same model but are different in imagery. It was important to the artist to have both locations at the city’s cultural center of music, theater, and performing arts. Locations
